Going, Going, GONE!

Gone Digital, that is!

Since May 2008, I've been taking a series of video lessons for Photoshop Elements from Jessica Sprague http://jessicasprague.com - It's been a blast learning so many new techniques and especially how to simply use my PSE5 and PSE6 programs. I'll tell ya - it was very frustrating to have these wonderful programs right at my fingertips and have no clue how to really make good use of them! But now, since taking the beginning and internediate classes from JSprague, I finally have some know-how and have been making some pretty cool pages -- if I do say so myself ;)!

The following 14 LOs are the result of JSprague's classes and my own "playing around" with the various techniques I've learned over the past couple months. Credits and info are listed below each LO. TFL!

12x12 LO ~ This was my very first "from scratch" digital page - photos are from our trip to Montana in January 2008. Paper: Katie Pertiet; created the title using the TEXT tool and changed the color by "picking" from the bottom right photo; used the "moments/photos" BRUSH and changed the color to match the title; used the SHAPE tool to create the line of trees under the title; font used was Tekton Pro

12x12 LO ~ from the Up & Running class series at JSprague. All papers and elements by Katie Pertiet. Photos of Garden of the Gods taken by my dear friend, Linda M, on a trip we took together to visit with our "Scrappin Sisters," Becky & Sheryl in Colorado, May 2008

12x12 LO ~ also from the U&R class. This was my first attempt at using a template - sort of like a Becky Higgins sketch, but digital! I really love using a template, as it makes for quick and easy pages, but since I can choose what specific elements I want to use for a given LO, each page is unique! These photos were taken by me during our trip to Utah in June 2007 (not "2008" as it says in the caption!)

6x6 LO ~ this page was done for a circle journal album; template by Jen Caputo; papers: source unknown - have to check my folders...; fonts: Impact "GOD Speaks" and Inkburrow "through my children." Photos are of my kids: DD Jenni & her husband, Ivory (Amy Danzl, photographer); DSs Chris and J (taken by me) and DS Matt with girlfriend, Kasey (taken by me)

6x6 LO ~ companion page to the one above; template: Jen Caputo; papers by the same designer as above but again, need to search for them. All photos taken by me; fonts: Impact (GOD Speaks) and Century Gothic (caption)

12x24 LO ~ This was the final page for the intermediate class, "Now We're Rockin." Supply list: Jessica Sprague: alphabet for title; Michelle Coleman (papers, brushes, scalloped mask), Leora Sanford (journal block) and Jackie Eckles (twill strips) - all from Little Dreamer Designs and Katie Pertiet (sanded overlay). Photos taken by me during our trip to Florida, June 2008

12x12 LO ~ this was a "from scratch" page as well, made for a "warm color photo" challenge at JSprague. Supplies used - Paper: Eressa Designs "Blue Hue" from Faith Sisters; Sanded Overlay: Katie Pertiet/Designer Digitals; "Simple Noisey" filter: PSE6; Fonts: Mistral (quote) and Century Gothic ("Gandhi"). Photo taken by me in Eagle River, Alaska, May 2008

12x12 LO ~ this was based on a page design from lesson three in the Up & Running class at JSprague. Supplies - all papers from the "Promise Collection" at The Shabby Princess, Acrylic Alpha by Katie Pertiet, fonts: Mistral and ReservoirGrunge. Tree and flower photos were taken by me; focal photo taken by Kasey D; bottom right photo taken by Linda B.

8x8 LO ~ this page and the one following are for a gift album for the bride & groom featured in the photos. This first page was based on lesson three from the "Now We're Rockin" class. Supplies - Katie Pertiet: brushes and frames; JSprague: solid paper (for photo mat and large brush; originally red, re-colored for this LO); Melany Violette: background paper; fonts: Century Gothic (quote) and Dali. Focal photo and 2nd small photo on left, taken by Linda B; others were taken by me. July, 2008

8x8 LO ~ Supplies - Katie Pertiet: sanded overlay; Jen Wilson: pattern papers; fonts: Century Gothic (quote) and Dali (author). Photo and page design by me.

12x12 LO ~ this was for a template challenge at JSprague. Supplies - Simply Sarah: template #42; Jen Wilson: background paper. All photos taken by me on our camping trip to the Kenai Peninsula (AK), July 2008

12x12 LO ~ Week three's lesson from the "Now We're Rockin" class at JSprague. Supplies - Katie Pertiet: all papers and elements (except for "swirl brush"); Mary Ann Wise: Swirl brush. Photos taken by me during our trip to Florida, June 2008

12x12 LO ~ Lesson two of "Now We're Rockin" class at JSprague. Supplies - all papers, elements and brushes by Katie Pertiet; fonts: Century Gothic and Jefferson ("Mexico"). All photos taken by me during our trip to Florida, June 2008 (yes, those are my feet!).

12x12 LO ~ Lesson one from the "Now We're Rockin" class at JSprague. Supplies - Trish Jones: papers, distressed overlay; Katie Pertiet: curled edges; Jessica Sprague: hearts and corner brush; Meredith Fenwick: alpha for title; Solenero, Hawksmont2 & G Valkyrie: brushes; fonts: Century Gothic. Photo taken by me along the Seward Highway, outside of Anchorage Alaska in May 2008 (yes, that's my car!)

I have printed out several of the 12x12 LOs (at Costco) and have been very happy with the results. It's kind of embarassing to say, but I really haven't had any interest in the traditional "paper scrapping" since I've started these classes and, although I plan to continue making cards, mini/gift albums and altered items, digital may very well be "it" for me, regarding scrapbook albums and such... we'll see!

Kim,

Oh, WOW!!!!

I love all of these layouts. All of them are special in their own ways. I really like the one of Kenai where you have the "postcards/postage stamps" appearance of the photos. What a great way to display a multitude of photographs. I think that you can use the BH sketches or pagemaps with digital.

Are still going to use your real papers, etc anymore?

Hugs--
