Catching Up

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, but I do have several LOs to share! There are three new pages in this post, but I have another five that I will include in a different post.

12x12 LO ~ Features photos I've taken this month (August '08) of the flora and fauna around our property. The page design is my own template, inspired by a "Cricut" ad in the July 2008 issue of Creating Keepsake magazine. This is my first template and though it's not very elaborate, I really like it!

12x12 LO ~ Another shot from our garden. Don't if this is a weed or a flower, but I thought it was pretty.

12x12 LO ~ This is the final project for the "Digi: in Deep" class at JessicaSprague.com. It was a complicated LO, but enjoyable to do and I learned some new techniques. I plan to make a second page to go with this one...sometime!

"Jenner ~ Then & Now"

This is my version of JSprague's Digi: in Deep, lesson 2. Jessica's original LO was blue and green and featured a star shape, rather than the heart I chose for my page. Also, her "&" was striped, but as you can see, I chose to go with pink floral to better match the theme of my page. One of the new techniques we learned in this lesson was to blend together two photos -- a cool technique on which, obviously, I still need to work! We also learned how to make our own pattern paper (used for the heart) and our own brush/stamp (the numbers pattern on the heart and the photos). Details, below.

12x12 LO - featuring photos of my sweet daughter, Jenni; the first, at 3 months old and the second, at 22 years old.

Credits:

* Background papers and pink floral paper - Anna Aspnes (a fellow Alaska girl, BTW!); these purple papers were originally a lime green, retinted here for the project
* Rounded corner square die cut (rounded edges on dark paper), journaling lable, grungy photo block and staples - Katie Pertiet
*Fonts - "Alfredo Heavy" (ampersand); "Amerika" (Then, Now), "Anarchy" (numbers) and Century Gothic (journaling, dates on lables)
*Stitching on heart and diagonal stripes on photos were done with a photoshop brush

Photo on left was taken by me; photo on right, by Amy Danzl - Jen & Ivory's wedding photographer.

"Grand" - Kitties!

This is the LO I entered in the "CT Call" last week. I heard from the designer today and she appreciated my entry, but did not invite me to be a part of the team, which is totally okay and really, what I expected! She was gracious and kind and very sweet to have sent me an e-mail explaining her decision. Maybe I'll apply again sometime, but who knows?!

No Place Like Home

My latest layout - this one's for "assignment 1b" of the Digi: In Deep class. The assignment was to use a "compound mask", plus at least two of the other techniques we applied to our first layout for lesson one (see my post below from July 28). Credits, below.

Credits:

Pattern papers: Anna Aspnes
Brads and ribbon: Dahlia Co
Floral Brush: sleepwalkerfish
Swirl (used in title): Mary Ann Wise
Fonts: Texas Ranger, One Fell Woop ("Home"), VT Remington Typewriter (journaling & date)

Techniques used:

Compound mask; combining font & brush for title; layer mask; semi-transparent journaling block; blended overlay on focal photo.
